Celebrating The Life and Legacy of Floyd Reno Earls

Reno was born on Feb 21, 1977, in Gainesville, Ga to Floyd and Velma Earls. He was called home to be with the Lord on Jan 11, 2022.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Dean Earls. 

Reno was a multi-sport athlete, coach, and self-taught musician. He was a gifted basketball player at Lakeview Academy, where he holds the boy’s basketball scoring record with 2,041 points. He was awarded local player of the week on multiple occasions. He was also a member of the Lanierland Lakers AAU National Championship Team. He then went on to play collegiate basketball at The Citadel and Dekalb College. He was an avid supporter of his family, friends, and the community of Gainesville. He coached several youth basketball programs throughout Hall and Gwinnett counties. At an early age, he was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church where he used his musical talent in the Harmonic Voices choir playing drums. Later in life, he had goals of starting his own business and podcast.  He was a devoted father and grandfather who pushed and supported his children to strive for greatness. 

He was survived by his children, Takeda, Imari, Imani, Indyah, and Imre; parents, Floyd and Velma Earls; sisters, Vicki Earls, Michelle Chatman, and Lisa Ware; brother, James Singleton; grandchildren, Junior, Noelle, Brooklyn, Nassir, Wynter, and Melody; niece, Janay; nephews, Riyadh and Chaz; and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Funeral service will be Wednesday January 19, 2022 at 1pm at Dexter T. Sims Mortuary, LLC in The Rev. Charlie, Jr. and Conchita Sims Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Alta Vista Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday January 18, 2022 from 1pm-7pm.
