Remembering The Life and Legacy of Ima Jean Chapman

Ima Jean Chapman was born on April 15, 1945 in Elberton, Georgia to the late Nelson Norman, Jr. and the late Nora Statum Norman. She was called home to be with the Lord on May 31, 2022. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Willie Jack Norman, Leonard Charles Norman, Melvin Norman, L. Nora Norman, and Joe Lewis Norman; and step-mother, Ella Mae Norman.

Ima Jean graduated from Blackwell Memorial High School in 1964. She loved cooking her favorite cornbread, macaroni and cheese, working in her yard, and being a servant to God.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her two children, Jennifer Chapman-Sampson and Christopher (Lisa) Chapman; five grandchildren, Tauren Travis, Shaquan Cantrell, Juwan (Alexis) Chapman, Gabby Sampson, and Alissa Chapman; granddog, Kobe Chapman; sisters, Wyvonia Lipscomb, Phyllis (Daniel) White, Bernice (Caple) Davis, and Ramona (Avery) Wilson; brothers, Marion (Mary) Norman, Washington Canty, Sam (Michelle) Norman, Nelson (Kim) Norman III, David Norman, and Andy Norman; two of her dearest friends, Margaret Finch and Linda Carruth; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Sunday June 12, 2022 at 1pm at Dexter T. Sims Mortuary, LLC in The Rev. Charlie, Jr. and Conchita Sims Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Alta Vista Cemetery. Viewing will be held Saturday June 11, 2022 from 1pm-6pm. The family will receive family and friends from 5pm-6pm.
