Remembering The life of Wilburn Morris

Wilburn Morris was born on January 26, 1938 in Maysville, Georgia to the late Joe Albert Morris and the late Maxine Morris. He was called home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2024. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephni Alicea Morris; brothers, Charles Morris, Bobby Morris, James Morris, and Jack Morris. 

Wilburn was a graduate of Bryant High School in the Class of 1955. Furthermore, he became married to Mary Alice Morris after he graduated from high school. Later, he enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1959 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1963. Immediately after his discharge, he became a member of the United States Air Force Reservist for the next eight years.  Wilburn spent his life serving his community in San Diego, CA. He spent 20 years as a Probation Officer for San Diego County. During his time living in San Diego, he served as a Deacon at Bayview Baptist Church until he moved back to Gainesville to be with his family after his retirement in 2003.

His favorite past time was spending time with his family and studying the bible. He also enjoyed gardening and spending an enormous amount of time with his grandchildren who also lived in San Diego. Wilburn was known for his unique trait of having blue eyes. His faith in God and wisdom he shared shall live on with the legacy he leaves.

Wilburn leaves to cherish his memories to his loving wife of 69 years, Mary Alice Morris; son, Terry Morris; grandchildren, Jamal Davis and Al’lyssa Amos; great grandchildren, Nevaeh Davis, Al’layah Cash, Knox Davis, Alicea Carter, and Kassidi Davis; brothers, Ray Morris, Carl Morris, and Michael Morris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Friday May 10, 2024 at 1pm at Dexter T. Sims Mortuary, LLC in The Rev. Charlie, Jr. and Conchita Sims Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Alta Vista Cemetery. Viewing will be held Thursday May 9, 2024 from 4pm-7pm
