Sherry Onita “Sharon” Cantrell was born on April 13, 1965 in Gainesville, GA to the late Edward Henry Cantrell and the late Mary Lois Cantrell. She departed this life on August 23, 2026. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Roshonda Robinson; son, Marquez Cantrell; brothers, James Cantrell, Eric Byrd, Rodney Cantrell, and Eddie Cantrell; and sister, Sherry Brodus.
Sherry was a strong and independent woman who loved her life in her own way. She was straightforward and always to the point. You never had to wonder what Sherry was thinking, because she was never afraid to speak her mind. Sherry had a strong personality and heart that personified her kindness and sweetness. Furthermore, she was known for her sense of humor. She constantly joked around with her peers and enjoyed making everyone laugh. She had a way of bringing her own special energy to those who knew and loved her. She will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, grandmother, family member, and friend. Sherry’s presence was one of a kind. Although, she will be deeply missed, the memories that she created will remain forever.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her sons, Antwane Thurmond and Pierre Young; daughter, Li’Sheena Cantrell; brothers, Roger E. Cantrell, Taurus Deshaun Cantrell, and Derrick Byrd; aunts, Annie Ruth Simpson and Ruby Nell Cantrell; uncle, Robert Lee Butlerand Osco Cantrell; grandchildren, Jebrya Banks, Jenya Banks, Zyi’Kevin Cantrell, Trinity Hopkins, Yari Quan Cantrell, and Zamya Robinson; three great grandchildren; special friend, Melanie Gilstrap; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Satu September 5, 2026 at 3pm at Dexter T. Sims Mortuary, LLC in The Rev. Charlie, Jr. and Conchita Sims Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Viewing will be held Friday September 4, 2026 from 3pm-7pm.
