Remembering Our Loved One

Curtis D. Young was born on September 6, 1976 in Gainesville, GA to the late Betty Gene Lyles and Johnny Reed Young. He was called home to be with the Lord on November 3, 2021. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Ann Young; uncles, Bobby Young, Steve Young, and James Young; and grandfather, Roosevelt Young.

At an early age, Curtis professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined St. John Baptist Church where he was a dedicated member. He graduated from Gainesville High school in 1994. There are so many adjectives to describe Curtis. He was caring, strong, loyal, funny, stern, gentle, and many, many more. This is who Curtis was to the world. To us, he was a brother, son, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He taught us that life will throw you punches and blindside us, but you always have to keep looking straight ahead and never look back. It could be something good, so you don’t want to miss it.

Curtis loved life. He learned to cook because he loved to eat. He was a big wrestling fan by far. Furthermore, his passion for drawing allowed him to tell stories through his artwork. His artwork gave him a sense of freedom. When we pick up a pencil and draw, we realize that his legacy will continue to live on forever. He answered his last call and can now rest in peace.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Johnny R. Young and Mary H. Young, both of Dahlonega, GA; brothers, Ronnie Young, Gary Young, Richard Carter, all of Gainesville, GA; Johnny Young, Jr. of San Marcos, TX, Timothy Young of Buford, GA, and Joey Young of Oakwood, GA; sisters, Patricia Jackson, Diane Browner Young, and Robin Carter, all of Gainesville, GA; aunt, Alice Joyce Peppers of Hoschton, GA; uncle, Larry Young of Buford, GA; nephews, Christopher Young, Elijah Young, and Devonte Young, all of Gainesville, GA, Naaman Young and Johntez Young, both of San Marcos, TX; nieces, Betty Shawnta Young, Tasha Jackson, and Antavia Young, all of Gainesville, GA, and Victoria Young of Flowery Branch, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
