Celebrating The Life of Evelyn Juanita Banks-Macon

Evelyn Juanita Banks-Macon was born on April 30, 1947 in Atlanta, GA to the late Hugh Dorsey Banks and the late Annie Clara Harper-Banks. She was called home to be with the Lord on August 28, 2022. She was preceded in death by her brother, Willie Hugh Banks.

Early in her life, her spiritual journey started at Saint Luke CME Church in Hartwell, GA. Evelyn was educated in Hartwell at the Hart County Training School, where she graduated in 1964. Furthermore, she attended and graduated from EXAPEX Beauty School and Wilford Academy in Hartford, CT. While living in Hartford, she became a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Windsor, CT. Evelyn worked at Chandler Evans. She also worked in the banking industry as well as the hairdressing industry for many years. She will be forever remembered by everyone by her smile and laugh.

Evelyn leaves to cherish memories to her daughter, Cornita Macon of Hartford, CT; sons, John “Bub” Macon and Jumel “Melly-Mel” Macon, both of Hartford, CT; stepson, Jonathan Watson; four grandchildren, Myisha, Jayden, Little John, and Takai, all of Hartford, CT; sister, Julia (Elma) Tucker of Hartwell, GA; brother, Marvin (Debbie) Banks of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law, Cora Banks of Bloomfield, CT; goddaughter, Kenya; godson, Tarik; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday September 17, 2022 at 1pm at St. Luke CME Church. Burial will be in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. The link for the livestream is https://vimeo.com/747736749.
