Mrs. Shannon Renee Westbrooks Carruth was born on August 13, 1970 in Gainesville, GA to the late Leonard Osborne and Theresa Westbrooks. She went home to be with her Lord on February 12, 2024 following an extended illness and hospitalization. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Westbrooks and uncle Charles (Juanese) Demory.
Shannon was a lifetime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She served the Lord at the church at an early age. She served with joy in Choirs, Usher Boards, Hospitality Teams, and the Trustee Board. Furthermore, she was a Prayer Warrior with a caring and generous heart of gold. Her talents led her to be crowned Little Miss Black Hall County at an early age.
She successfully matriculated through the Gainesville City School System and graduated from Gainesville High School in the Class of 1989. After graduating from Gainesville High School, she attended North Georgia College majoring in Nursing. Shannon earned multiple certifications, achievements, awards as well as the admiration of her colleagues in the field of healthcare. She ended her career at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in 2023.
Shannon’s passion for the medical field gave her the opportunity to nurture lifelong friendships wherever she went. She was caring, energetic, and known as a loving and dedicated caregiver for most of her career. She often worked second jobs to obtain her goals, but she often made time to serve the needy as well. Shannon and Mark shared their home with Sheba, their beloved Fur Baby. They graciously hosted fun events and cared for multiple family members and friends in their home. Their notorious Atlanta Falcons Tailgate Group with Sister Keshier Randolph continued over 17 years and sparked generous community service projects for children in need. Shannon never met a stranger and will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her tireless spirit, and her caring heart for God’s people. Now, Rest in Peace Our Sweet Angel.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her beloved husband, Mark Russell Carruth; mother, Theresa Westbrooks; brother, Ian Curry; stepsons, Marcus Carruth and Joshua Hester; half-sister, Tabitha Mance; lifelong sister and friend, Rev. Dr. Keshier Randolph; loving aunts and uncles, Latiff (Beverly) Hamin, Deborah K. Everette, Stephanie Westbrooks Watkins, Vanessa (Douglas) Ellison, Patrice Westbrooks, Patrick Westbrooks; and many other cherished cousins, coworkers, and friends.
