Helen J. Langlinais Brown was born October 14, 1935, in Lafayette, LA, to the late Joseph Fenwick Langlinais and Lillie Traham Langlinais. She was called home to be with the Lord on February 2, 2026. Her eternal spirit joins those loved ones who preceded her in death: husband, Earl Dean Brown, Sr.; son, Earl Brown, Jr.; daughter, Michelle Brown; brother, Richard Langlinais; sister, Mary Nell Langlinais Barker;
Helen showed an early love of learning. After attending elementary school in Lake Charles, her family moved to Port Arthur, TX, where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954. Thanks to the generosity and support of her family, she left Port Arthur for Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View TX, where she continued her love of reading, and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.
While at A&M, she met the love of her life, Earl Brown Sr. After graduating in June 1959, she and Earl, Sr. married July 4, 1959. She later joined Earl after he became a commissioned officer in the United States Army, and they traveled around the world as a growing family — from Japan to Virginia to Ohio – ultimately settling in Duluth, GA. She was a devoted wife, and doting mother to her children, Michelle, Earl, Jr., Christopher and Denise. When she was not attending a sports event for her children, Helen was known for showing her love through cooking. She hosted many meals for her children’s high school basketball, football, soccer and track teammates, and for her husband’s golf buddies and colleagues.
More recently, Helen enjoyed retired life at The Piedmont at Buckhead, where she enjoyed quiet times listening to country music, doing word search puzzles, shopping at TJ Maxx, visiting Marley (Denise’s Great Dane), and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs. She loved visits and phone calls from family and friends, and before they left or hung up, she was sure to tell them to “Be safe”!
Helen was a compassionate young woman who loved to take care of others. Her spirit lives in the hearts of countless family and friends, and especially the ultimate loves of her life: son, Christopher Kerwin Brown of Sandy Springs, GA; daughter, Denise Adrian Brown of Smyrna, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends
The Celebration of Life will be Thursday February 12, 2026 at 11am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will be in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
